Temperature Performance (Internal Range)

🌡️ At 35°C outside temperature → Maintains 2–26°C for up to 14 hours

🌡️ At 30°C outside temperature → Maintains 2–26°C for up to 16 hours

How to Use Your Cooler

How to Use the Rambler Insulin Pen Case Cooler

No electricity, no mess – just a simple cooling system that works anywhere, anytime!

1️⃣ Freeze the Biogel Cooling Pack: Place it in the freezer for at least 6 hours before use.

2️⃣ Prepare the Pack: Immerse the cold pack in warm water for 30 to 60 seconds. This step ensures that the cold pack's temperature reaches a minimum of 2°C to protect your insulin or medication from freezing when in direct contact. Alternatively, you can let the cold pack sit at room temperature for approx. 10 minutes.

3️⃣ Pack & Go: Insert the cooled Biogel pack into the insulated case, place your insulin pen or syringe inside, and securely close the lid.

4️⃣ Extended Cooling: Swap out the Biogel pack with a spare frozen one if you need longer cooling periods. Extra cooling packs are available for purchase here.

Got Questions About The Rambler? We've Got Answers.

How Long Does The Rambler Keep An Insulin Pen Cool?

The Rambler Insulin Pen Case keeps your insulin or medication cool below 26°C for up to 16 hours at 30°C, up to 14 hours at 35°C, and up to 12 hours at 40°C — more than enough for a full day out under the Aussie sun, whether you're at the beach, on a bushwalk, or just running errands around town.

Can I Use The Rambler To Carry Refrigerated Insulin?

No — the Rambler is designed exclusively for heat protection. It keeps open, in-use medications cool at room temperature below 26°C, but it can't maintain fridge temperatures (2–8°C). It's not suitable for transporting unopened insulin or other medications that need to be refrigerated.

💡 If you need to travel with refrigerated medications, check out our range of mini travel fridges and medication coolers to find the right fit.

Is The Rambler Compatible With Medications Other Than Insulin?

Too right — the Rambler is a great compact cooler for any injection pen that needs to stay cool at room temperature below 26°C.

That said, it's a small and compact case, and not every injection will fit. Its internal chamber measures 2.4 cm diameter and 17.4 cm in length.

🔍 Check the product images to confirm your medication's compatibility before ordering. Not sure whether your medication fits? Get in touch with our support team and we'll be happy to help.

What Makes The Rambler Better Than A Regular Cooler Bag?

Three things, really.

  • First, safety: the Rambler's Biogel Ice Pack freezes at 2°C and physically can't drop below that point — so there's no risk of accidentally freezing your insulin or medication.
  • Second, mess: ice melts and drips everywhere, whereas the Biogel Ice Pack stays dry and contained throughout.
  • Third, reliability: a lunch bag or esky has no engineered insulation — it's guesswork.

The Rambler is laboratory tested and proven to keep things cool for up to 16 hours to medical-grade standards. No drama, no mess, no dodgy DIY setups.

How Do I Set Up And Use The Rambler Insulin Pen Case?

The Rambler is one of the simplest insulin coolers you'll ever use.

Freeze the included Biogel Ice Pack for a minimum of 6 hours (longer if you like). Before use, submerge it in warm water for 30–60 seconds to bring its surface temperature up to a safe level and avoid direct contact with insulin at below-freezing temperatures. Dry it off gently, pop it inside the Rambler along with your injection pen, seal the lid, and you're done — no buttons, no cables, no fuss.

The whole thing takes under a minute, and your cooler is ready to go for up to 16 hours.

Does The Rambler Need Electricity Or Charging?

Nope — not a drop of electricity needed. The Rambler runs entirely on passive cooling using the included Biogel Ice Pack. No USB, no charging, nothing to plug in.

That makes it perfect for bush walks, beach days, long flights, or anywhere you can't count on a power point.

💡 If you'd prefer an electric option, we've got several USB cooling cases:

  • For room-temperature heat protection with electric precision, check out the Rambler PRO.
  • For a cooler that handles both room temperature and full refrigeration, the Explorer is a great all-rounder.
  • For USB-powered refrigeration, the Voyager, the Pioneer PRO, the Pioneer, and the Voyager Mini are purpose-built for that.
What If I Need To Keep My Medication Cold For More Than 16 Hours?

Easy fix — just pick up additional Biogel Ice Packs and swap them out once the first one warms up. Keep a spare in the freezer at home or in a hotel room minibar, and you can extend your protection as long as you need.

What If I Forgot To Freeze The Biogel Ice Pack? Will My Insulin Still Be Protected?

Short answer — it won't perform properly. The Biogel Ice Pack needs at least 6 hours in the freezer before use to do its job.

In a pinch, 3–4 hours of freezing will give you partial performance, but for the full 16 hours of cooling, always aim for 6 hours or more.

Our tip: keep the Biogel Ice Pack in the freezer permanently so it's always good to go — one less thing to think about on a busy morning!

How Long Do The Biogel Ice Packs Last, And Where Do I Get A Replacement If Needed?

The Biogel Ice Packs included with our coolers are built to last indefinitely with regular use — no fixed lifespan, and they don't degrade with repeated freeze-thaw cycles. As long as the pack remains intact with no signs of physical damage, leaking, or unusual changes in texture, it'll keep performing as expected.

The only reason to replace it is if it becomes punctured, torn, or starts leaking. If that happens, replacement Biogel Ice Packs are available here.

What's The Difference Between The Rambler And The Rambler PRO Insulin Coolers?

Both are compact, single-pen insulin coolers designed to keep your in-use insulin pen protected from heat. The difference is how they go about it.

The Rambler PRO adds a full electric layer:

  • a built-in 10,000 mAh rechargeable battery;
  • a real-time LED temperature display;
  • an adjustable temperature range (2–25°C);
  • three working intensity settings.

Where the Rambler is simple and affordable, the Rambler PRO is for those who want active, precise, verifiable temperature control without relying on a Biogel Ice Pack alone.

💡 Not sure which one suits you? The Rambler is ideal for everyday use and shorter outings. The Rambler PRO is worth the upgrade if real-time monitoring and electric precision matter to you.

Does The Rambler Insulin Cooler Fit In A Bag, Pocket, Or Handbag?

Absolutely — the Rambler is one of the most compact medical travel coolers around, measuring just 20.7 cm tall and 4.3 cm in diameter, and weighing only 200g. It slips easily into a handbag, a jacket pocket, a backpack side pocket, or a gym bag without taking up much room at all — perfect for Aussies on the go.

I Need To Carry More Than 1 Insulin Pen. What Cooler Do You Recommend?

The Rambler is designed for one injection pen only. If you need to carry more, the best option depends on whether your pens need refrigeration or just heat protection.

💡 For heat protection at room temperature, the Chiller cooling pouches hold up to 4 insulin pens in a flat, lightweight format — great for Aussie summers.

💡 The Explorer Insulin Travel Cooler Case is also an excellent option — in USB-only mode it keeps multiple pens at room temperature, and in Biogel or combined mode it can refrigerate your unopened stock at the same time, making it a brilliant all-in-one solution.

🔍 Not sure which cooler is right for you? Get in touch with our support team — we're happy to help you choose!

Can I Fly With The Rambler? Can I Pack It In My Carry-On?

Absolutely! The Rambler is fully approved for airport security — whether you're flying domestically around Australia or heading overseas.

💡 Make sure to carry your medication inside the cooler to show it's being used for medical purposes — this keeps security checks quick and hassle-free.

The Rambler's compact size and passive design make it one of the easiest coolers to travel with: no power banks, no cables, nothing to declare beyond your medication.

What's The Return And Warranty Policy For The Rambler?

Not what you expected? No worries — you've got 30 days from delivery to request a return.

🔍 Check out our return policy page for the full details.

Your Rambler also comes with a 2-year warranty, and you can add up to 3 more years of coverage at checkout for a small fee. We cover all defects and malfunctions — just not scratches, everyday wear, or accidental damage.
