No — the Rambler is designed exclusively for heat protection. It keeps open, in-use medications cool at room temperature below 26°C, but it can't maintain fridge temperatures (2–8°C). It's not suitable for transporting unopened insulin or other medications that need to be refrigerated.

That said, it's a small and compact case, and not every injection will fit. Its internal chamber measures 2.4 cm diameter and 17.4 cm in length.

• First, safety: the Rambler's Biogel Ice Pack freezes at 2°C and physically can't drop below that point — so there's no risk of accidentally freezing your insulin or medication.
• Second, mess: ice melts and drips everywhere, whereas the Biogel Ice Pack stays dry and contained throughout.
• Third, reliability: a lunch bag or esky has no engineered insulation — it's guesswork.

Freeze the included Biogel Ice Pack for a minimum of 6 hours (longer if you like). Before use, submerge it in warm water for 30–60 seconds to bring its surface temperature up to a safe level and avoid direct contact with insulin at below-freezing temperatures. Dry it off gently, pop it inside the Rambler along with your injection pen, seal the lid, and you're done — no buttons, no cables, no fuss.

The whole thing takes under a minute, and your cooler is ready to go for up to 16 hours.

Nope — not a drop of electricity needed. The Rambler runs entirely on passive cooling using the included Biogel Ice Pack. No USB, no charging, nothing to plug in.

Easy fix — just pick up additional Biogel Ice Packs and swap them out once the first one warms up. Keep a spare in the freezer at home or in a hotel room minibar, and you can extend your protection as long as you need.

Short answer — it won't perform properly. The Biogel Ice Pack needs at least 6 hours in the freezer before use to do its job.

In a pinch, 3–4 hours of freezing will give you partial performance, but for the full 16 hours of cooling, always aim for 6 hours or more.

Our tip: keep the Biogel Ice Pack in the freezer permanently so it's always good to go — one less thing to think about on a busy morning!
